Kitano Kulto
Kitano Takeshi's merry band of dedicated Italian fans got some coverage in the Japanese press today. As you can see, they're wearing the same fake chonmage that Kitano himself donned in Cannes earlier this year, where, according to the article, Kitano presented the fan club with the goods you see on their heads. Their shirts read 「北野武 映画の神様」"Kitano Takeshi - Film God".
Kitano spoke after the screening about the die hard devotees. "As I entered the theatre the Italian fans were there as well and I thought 'Oh, no' because these guys like my films like Sonatine. I thought that after these core fans saw [Glory To The Filmmaker!] I'd be dead in the water. I was relieved that wasn't the case."
Back to work, writing about Japan's "talent system" and the Japanese participants at this year's Star Summit Asia being held during the Pusan fest.
