More Miike. "Ichi the Killer" (
Koroshiya Ichi) is playing theatrically here in Tokyo. Good friend Colin Geddes was the first to showcase it worldwide at Midnight Madness. I wasn't a big fan of it, but there are some stunning action sequences, usually ending in an ultra-violent bloodbath. The image of a disembodied face sliding down a wall comes to mind. The movie has gained an instant cult following and ensured Miike's place as one of the wildest directors in the world. The snap on the right is of a soundtrack display at Tower Records Shinjuku (a similar display for DOA 3 was nearby.)
I haven't seen DOA 3 yet, but it seems like a return to the all-out action of part one, this time with some Hong Kong locations and cast members thrown in for good measure. The snap on the left is of a mini-poster for the film. Every film that's released in Japan has a shrunken version of the one-sheet printed, provided free at theatres and music shops.

There's a blurb up about a new script I'm working on (entitled "She's A Rainbow") in the
projects section.
