Not much film-related news to report yet. Did a bunch of rewrite / transcription work for the Tokyo International Film Festival again. There's also another up-and-coming film festival based in Tokyo named FILMeX, which is the combined effort of a bunch of different partners, overseen by director Kitano Takeshi. This year featured a retrospective of the great Okamoto Kihachi.
My keitai (cellphone) has a built-in mini digital camera that I've been using to take snaps which I then email to people. A few examples: the first is a Santoesque Christmas display at Harajuku's La Foret shopping center; the second is the cover of a fantastic Japanese coffee-table book of Spaghetti Western poster art (Franco Nero even wrote the foreword, where he uses the letter 'W' as a short form for the word 'ViVa' -- first time I've seen that); the third is a detail of a poster which I nicked...I mean 'acquired' for Suzuki Seijun's latest film 'Pistol Opera.' I may just put up a gallery of film-related cellphone snaps soon.
